You are a photographer, videographer or creator. An inquiry comes in, and you are asked to name a price. And in that moment the guessing starts: too high, and the job is gone. Too low, and you work for too little. This is exactly where flintery comes in.
In short: flintery is the first platform that actively helps creatives make a good living from their work. It gives you clarity about your business. It starts with your day rate, meaning what you need to run your business and to live, and takes you from there through project pricing and usage rights all the way to yearly planning. We call this whole system the Revenue Engine.
What is flintery?
flintery answers the questions that decide the fate of your business but appear in no camera manual: What can I charge for this project? What are my usage rights worth? Is there enough left at the end of the month? Will I hit my yearly target?
The tool runs in the browser, on your phone too, and is built for the reality of creatives, not for that of a classic company. It knows the difference between a wedding job and a campaign shoot, between photo, video and content creation. And it works with your real numbers: your fixed costs, your working time, your target net income.
What matters just as much is what flintery is not. It is not a bureaucratic monster, not legal advice, and not a catalog that tells you what to charge. flintery gives you the numbers. You make the decision.
What is the Revenue Engine?
The Revenue Engine is the heart of flintery. It is not a single feature but the system behind it, in which all the building blocks mesh together like gears.
And it does not start with your first client, it starts with you. Before you think about a single job, flintery answers the basic question of every self-employed business: What do you need to earn to work profitably and to live off it long term? That is your day rate, calculated from real fixed costs, taxes and your target net income. It is the foundation everything else stands on.
Building on that, the engine moves your revenue through three stages:
- Before: You know what the job is worth. Based on this day rate, you price every project, with your usage rights and project costs. Not "what did I charge last time", but a solid number you can stand behind.
- During: The admin thinks along. Your calculation turns into a quote with one click, and from there into the invoice. Your client data fills itself in, your capacity follows from your projects. You do not maintain spreadsheets, you work.
- After: flintery delivers the numbers, you decide better. flintery automatically splits every payment, for taxes, reserves and your own pay (Profit First), and shows you month by month what comes in and goes out. From your balance and fixed costs it even works out how many months you can go without a new job, and warns you before things get tight. So you decide with numbers instead of from your gut: which job to take and when to raise your prices.
The point behind it is simple: a pure admin tool records what was. A Revenue Engine steers what will be. flintery is built for the second kind.
What can flintery do?
The individual building blocks of the engine at a glance:
| Building block | What it does for you |
|---|---|
| Day rate | Calculates from real fixed costs, taxes and target net income what you need to earn to work profitably and live off it long term. The starting point of the whole engine. |
| Project pricing | A guided flow for B2B and B2C, for photo, video or both. 21 industries with fitting fields. You enter what you do, flintery calculates what it should cost. |
| Usage rights | Automatically calculates appropriate usage rights for photo, video and content. Whether a social package or a full transfer of rights: you see right away what is fair. |
| Quotes & invoices | From quote to finished invoice without a break in the workflow. GoBD-compliant, including e-invoicing (XRechnung and ZUGFeRD). |
| Financial overview & cash flow | Income, expenses and liquidity in one place. You see bottlenecks before they arrive. |
| Yearly target & capacity | Every project automatically counts toward your yearly target. And you see how full your months really are, without entering a single appointment by hand. |
| Benchmark | Voluntary and anonymous: if you want, your calculation feeds into the benchmark, and in return you see what is common in your industry. It grows with the community and will soon be available in full. |
flintery also connects to your accounting (sevDesk, lexoffice) and your bank, so you do not type data twice.
What sets flintery apart from other tools?
There are calculators, there are CRMs, there are accounting tools. flintery differs in three ways:
- Real market data. flintery orients itself on what is actually paid on the market, instead of rigid reference values. The more creatives take part, the sharper the picture becomes.
- One tool for photo, video and content. Most solutions are either generic or built for photo only. flintery knows all three crafts with their own work steps.
- Everything is connected. You price a project, and your yearly target, your cash flow, your client list and your capacity update automatically. Enter it once, current everywhere. No manual upkeep.
And flintery is deliberately at home in the DACH region: developed in Düsseldorf, servers in Germany, GDPR-compliant.
Who is flintery for?
flintery is for you if you shoot photos, film or produce content as a freelancer and no longer want to leave the business side to gut feeling.
- Beginners get orientation: What can I even charge?
- Established creatives win back what they give away: above all on usage rights.
- Pros save time: complex calculations in minutes instead of hours in Excel.
What does flintery cost?
flintery comes in two plans. Professional costs 29 EUR per month, Premium 49 EUR per month, each plus VAT. With the yearly plan, two months are free.
7 days of Premium, no commitment. After the 7 days the trial ends, and you can decide for or against it in your own time. During the 7 days you incur no costs, and it does not turn into a paid plan automatically.
To put it in perspective: a single properly priced project earns the cost back for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Is flintery invoicing software?
flintery writes GoBD-compliant quotes and invoices including e-invoicing, but that is only one part. The actual purpose comes before that: flintery calculates what a job is worth before the quote goes out. You can also connect your accounting via integration (sevDesk, lexoffice).
Do I need business or accounting knowledge?
No. flintery guides you step by step. You answer questions about your work, and the tool turns that into your day rate and your prices. If you can plan a shoot, you can do this too.
Does flintery work for photo and video?
Yes, for both, including combined. flintery knows the work steps of both crafts, from editing to trailer, and calculates usage rights for photo, video and content separately.

What exactly is the Revenue Engine?
The Revenue Engine is the name flintery uses for its overall system. It starts with your day rate, meaning your economic need, and runs through pricing, usage rights, quotes and invoices all the way to cash flow and yearly planning. All the parts mesh together so that they actively steer your revenue, instead of just documenting it.
Find out what your work is worth. The first step of the engine is your day rate. Calculate it for free, with no sign-up.
Rafik Halabi
I am Rafik Halabi, founder of flintery and a food photographer in the DACH region myself. I built flintery because I know exactly the uncertainty described here: "close enough" was how I priced my work, and that is how I left five-figure sums on the table every year. To change that, I built myself a system. flintery grew out of it.
